This is Vivian. She has been working as a domestic helper since she was 16.

Vivian and I are both Filipino women, and yet we lead very different lives.

Domestic help in Singapore has existed for so long. As it became normalised, the efforts of these hardworking women became overlooked. 'Helpers,' as they're known as in Singapore, are a part of many people's daily lives but go unnoticed. To the upper class, helpers are simply unidentifiable figures that keep our society running.

Loneliness manifests itself through the life that these women live, away from their families in unfamiliar places. Domestic help is an endless cycle of service.

Will Singaporean society ever be able to look at helpers as more than a set of responsibilities?
